Widely recognized as the merger and acquisition activity experts, Sayer brings a senior team with experience and education in technical skills, finance, and business to each transaction.

After graduating with honours from the University of Toronto in 1981, Alan started on the path that would eventually bring him to Sayer with a wealth of experience in the natural resource business. Alan has experience in operational and management positions at small and large corporations acting as Founder, President, and Director of public and private oil and natural gas companies. As management he has directed the sale of not only oil and natural gas properties but also the sale of corporations. Alan’s practical experience and his technical background, including accreditation as a professional engineer and a professional geologist, make him invaluable to Sayer.

Tom joined the Sayer team in 1999 as a financial analyst after having worked in the internal audit division with a senior oil and natural gas producer. In addition to his Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary (1998), Tom is also a CFA Charterholder and a member of the CFA Institute. Tom is integral to Sayer’s corporate advisory assignments because of his financial background and experience. He also provides analysis for Sayer’s five publications, ensuring that he is always up to date on M&A and financing trends in the Canadian oil and natural gas industry.

After gaining an extensive background in business administration with several senior producers, Kelly joined Sayer in 2000 to manage our publications department. She has since overseen the creation and compilation of our in-house publications, including the development of our two newest, the Canadian Oil Industry Asset Sale Listing and the Canadian Oil Industry Merger & Acquisition Quarterly Review. In addition, she manages the subscriptions and distribution and coordinates all of Sayer’s custom research projects.

Ryan joined Sayer in the fall of 2006. After obtaining a Bachelor of Commerce with a Finance Concentration in 2004, Ryan joined an energy company where he worked as an analyst in their commercial group. Following his tenure there, he joined the sales group of an international investment firm. In addition to his experience, Ryan has completed various continuing education courses.

Crystal joined Sayer Energy Advisors as an Associate in January 2007, shortly after graduating cum laude from Saint Mary's University, Nova Scotia. At Saint Mary's, Crystal earned a Bachelor of Commerce with a double major - Finance and Human Resources Management. Her high achievements in university earned her a membership with Beta Gamma Sigma society. Crystal worked in various finance related roles while pursuing her education and plans to pursue a CFA designation.
